(Racial) I mean..just wow.. @ this letter @JemeleHill received....Post racial my ass

But we are post racial though...-_-

I'm glad that 'short soundbites' from Black males are 'tolerable'. You know, I COMPLAIN about ESPN on the regular. Did so with Rob Parker.

Definitely not from a racial standpoint and certainly I don't disparage their commentators looks.

I happen to think that Jemele speaks quite articulately. I may not always AGREE with her ALL OF THE TIME but she makes salient points. I don't see how this  while she may occasionally 'speak directly to us', I think THAT IS WHY SHE IS ON THE SHOW. To attract that demographic. I mean it IS ONLY RIGHT SEEING AS THOUGH BLACK PEOPLE DO WATCH THE CHANNEL PRETTY HEAVY. Luckily, the folks at ESPN, for all of their flaws, do see the importance of not only having her there as a person of color but as a WOMAN.

I saw some other bullshit being spouted out about 'women journalists' in regards to Erin Andrews dating an athlete. What is this, 'Attack Women on TV in sports' Week?

I won't even dignify the person who wrote this with 'disparaging words' back. I will just say that they are sad. Someone go give them a fucking hug or something. -_-

(Video) So @RobParker questions @RGIII's 'blackness' X Suspended.

I'm sure to some of you, I am 'late' on this. Rest assured, I am not. I said plenty yesterday.. go check Rob's replies on Twitter. I'm in there. He said '#urpathetic'.. So I kind of already addressed it on my TL. I just wanted to formally address it here. Probably a little more eloquently too. Make no mistake though, what I said to Rob STILL STANDS as far as what I think about him on THIS PARTICULAR issue.

Update: They just suspended him..

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/O2G5GwnQMmE?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't mind that Rob thinks RG3 is corny. He can feel that way. HE CAN EVEN THINK HE IS LAME. Cool.

The issue lies with him bringing his race into it and pigeon holing what 'It is to be black.." As if that comes in one size fits all. Naw B.. Doesn't work like that.

That type of edict is DETRIMENTAL to the very folks Rob was saying RG3 was not...excuse me..Rob was alluding to. He was careful not to say 'he wasn't Black' but he sure as hell QUESTIONED IT. That's dangerous.

RG3 plays football. Period. Anything beyond that is Soap Opera driven bullshit. The kid stays outta trouble so that doesn't affect his play via missed time, suspensions, etc. He plays the SAME MEDIA GAME that all Black athletes who actually want to make it play. He is a little closely guarded.

He is also a military kid so his whole perspective on race, relations with others is broader than most. He knows what it is like to be 'the outsider' so ostracizing him for his ability to bob and weave through racially constructed situations, such as answering those 'Black qb' questions, should be lauded. Not condemned on some 'You don't sound like one of us..." bullshit.

When you say things like that, you lend credence to the notion that we all should 'come from the hood', 'talk a certain way' and 'act a certain' way. No. That's just not true.

I tell you what, if RG3 where to run into a group of cats in 'sheets'.....

That's my point.

ESPN Body Issue 2012 Releases Preview Photos (PHOTO)

July 9, 2012|1:47 pm

ESPN has released preview photos of its "The Body Issue," which will feature 27 world-class athletes posing nude in a celebration of their toned physiques. This year's issue with a slant on the 2012 London Olympics includes NBA's Knicks player Tyson Chandler, Brazilian surfer Maya Gabeira, and the USA Women's Volleyball team (Check below for a full list).

"It's a very artistic shoot, and seeing that in past issues made me want to do it," Chanlder said in an interview with ESPN.
Toronto Blue Jays' slugger Jose Bautista said he wanted to participate to help "people to understand that athletes make a lot of sacrifices for their bodies."
Abby Wambach, U.S. Soccer forward, said, "If you have confidence inside, it will exude on the outside."
For Candace Parker, WNBA power-forward, it was about displaying her hard work.
"I hope to send the message that if you work hard, you can come back just as good as before," she told ESPN.

Editors of the ESPN Body Issue say the photos are for admiring the "vast potential of the human form." Critics of the Body Issue don't view the photos as art but say they are soft porn.
"It's okay to stare. That's what The Body Issueis here for," reads a blurb on the ESPN Body Issue's website. "Each year, we stop to admire the vast potential of the human form. To unapologetically stand in awe of the athletes who've pushed their physiques to profound frontiers. To imagine how it would feel to inhabit those bodies, to leap and punch and throw like a god. To ... well, gawk. So go ahead; join us. "
In the issue's "Bodies We Want" portfolio, the fourth of its kind, a total of 27 athletes strike an artistic pose and hold props related to their sport category.
The 2012 edition of ESPN The Magazine's The Body Issue will hit stand on July 13.
The full line-up of 27 athletes to be featured in the 2012 ESPN Body Issue:

The reason why David Stern said to Jim Rome 'Do You Still Beat Your Wife' The Mother of All Loaded Questions

A question with a false, disputed, or question-begging presupposition.

aka The Loaded Question...

Asking "Have you stopped beating your wife?" suggests that you have beaten your wife in the past, as well as that you have a wife. If you are unmarried, or have never beaten your wife, then the question is loaded.Which is what David was getting at...

Only two ways this could go...which is why Rome never really responded.

  1. "Yes, I have stopped beating my wife", which entails "I was beating my wife."
  2. "No, I haven't stopped beating my wife", which entails "I am still beating my wife."
Which is kinda what the 'lottery' question was to Stern...

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT WHEN TWO ASSHOLES GO.....ASSHOLE....ON EACH OTHER? Yes!!!!

Just so you know WHY THIS SHIT IS SO FUNNY.. Not that Jim has actually done such a thing.(Ya'll can stop scouring the Net looking to see if he did..He didn't.)

David was merely putting Jim back in the position that he was put in. Succinctly. I'm no Stern 'fan' but that shit was brilliant.

This is that NEXT LEVEL SNARK..

You've been successful out of making a career out of it and I keep coming on...- David Stern....

This shit is COMEDY!!

David also spoke on he would have put Isiah Thomas on the Dream Team had he had control in this audio. As long as he would have taken the 'Dookie' off the team, it would have been fine 'cause the LEAGUE'S ALL TIME ASSIST LEADER deserved his spot. @ Stock...

I wonder if Around The Horn is gonna be allowed to discuss this......Probably not... Who knows though...THEY MIGHT..

Here is th audio..

(Words/Guest Blogger) Words by @jg24lyfe X Mr. Wiley Can't Be Happy

BLOGGER NOTE: I am mad I didn't write this. I promise I am. Hats of to Graham for this.. For real.

It's around 2:30 am and I'm making that dreaded trip to the toilet. No matter how well positioned, your slippers are never truly visible in the dark. Under normal circumstances no big deal but this morning the dream was too good and too real. Ralph Wiley was talking to me...

Now, I've had celebrities in my dreams but breast and ass always set the stage but not tonight. Ralph Wiley was talking to me...

Mr. Wiley was angry. And needs you to keep his name out your mouth.

For those of you who don't know Mr. Wiley was a wordsmith with the ability to charm and blast you without as much as a deep breath. Socially aware and outspoken in both written and broadcast journalism. Not one to compromise or retreat because if he said it, he meant it. A superior knowledge of NFL, NBA, boxing and MLB made the most basic sports fan stand at attention or in my case sit in awe. He inspired me with his command. He was "telling the truth". A Black truth.

"Graham, wake up. I need to talk and you're going to listen."

Face was familiar but didn't catch the voice. What the fuck, didn't matter because I wasn't resting well.

"Did these negros not expect me to come back? Was I expected to rest in peace as they continue to sight me as a part of the inspiration in their approach to sports journalism?"

"Oh shit! Its Ralph Wiley! Haha, my man...wait, shouldn't this conversation take place with one of the ESPN types who profess their undying love for you?"

"Tried that. You think I'd come to you first? Not likely but I knew you'd listen, besides...you weren't sleeping well and about to make that can run."

"True." He had me there and the overriding thought was hurry up cause I'm not going to make it through one of those SportReporters type slow drags.

"Besides, I could take this to Online Black something or other."

"Would you really do that Mr. Wiley? Really?"

"No, he's part of the problem. I think he still prays to me. Nice guy though but I digress. You listening or what?"

     "Yes sir."

"I'm going to keep this short and to the point. You don't have to tell it but I have to get this of my chest. You know I died of a heart attack right? Anyway, I can't believe that the people who swear their inspiration is me can have their voices muted by a mouse. Really, Mickey has the power to quiet the voices that say I'm their guide, the one that moves them to be better? To be great?"

I'm sitting up now. Why? Because it's the truth.

"This is a dream so lay your ass down. Do you know how much it pains me to see all these wonderfully talented writers and minds controlled by an entity that wears white gloves, clogs, & no shirt?"

"Mr. Wiley, they point to their paychecks. The money is the driving factor. They speak their minds only when they think no ones watching. Hard to reach and question because of their position."

"Bryant H. McGill once said, and I quote, "The world is not fair, and often fools, cowards, liars and the selfish hide in high places."

Wow. Could it be that my thoughts all along were true? I'm really feeling this thought process. I'm smiling like shit. This dream should have come with a pause button. Dream or no dream I got to piss.

"Graham here is my heart...I want...no, no, no, I need someone, anyone, to step up and be the voice I lost too soon. Can you do this? I'm not sure but I trust you to try. This won't make you popular amongst those who desire to be me or like me but our black athletes need an uncompromising voice who values the personal story above the check. Someone who will communicate what's right and not what they're told."

     "Yes sir."

"You don't need to sir me. We're talking, well I'm talking. You continue to give me this time and I'll take care of you."

     "....."

"At some point I'm hoping these young brothers and sisters have a true Ralph Wiley moment and voice what they think when it's not hidden on twitter DM's and Facebook messages." "We can't keep hiding."

Mr.Wiley voice is getting louder but becoming stained. His eye's are red but it's anger and sorrow. Frustration of a man who can't reach the masses and has little to no faith that the black sports journalist can no longer shake the power of the mouse.

"Graham, understand my man, all of them aren't bad. Those who have other income generally speak from the heart with little regard of backlash or having to play Minnie."

"Mr. Wiley, can you see this ever changing? Is it truly possible that we can see a more candid, unabashed, thought sharing black sports journalist in the face of Disney control?"

"If none emerge it will further kill the public image of our black athlete. Most times we're all we have. We've already done damage that will never be repaired."

     "I understand...totally."

"Get up and go to the bathroom. I'll be here when you get back so we can discuss the coonish behavior of the negros sitting across from Skip Bayless."

Sitting up I throw my feet over the bed and damn, slippers right there. I heard his voice inside my head saying, "I told you I'd hook you up. I'm in heaven and I think Jesus likes my work!"

In his last piece, Mr. Wiley began with these words: "All a man's got is the integrity of his work." I believe that. If only they believed that in the face of Mickey. If not, continue to "protect that check and your money" & I'll continue to say fuck you and we're both satisfied.

Peace, Grahamzlaw

(Video) Hank Williams Jr. pulled from Monday Night Football lead for comments on President Obama...

Now I am neither SHOCKED NOR SURPRISED that Hank Williams Jr. feels this way. What I want to know is why Disney owned ESPN didn't know he felt this way. I'm no country music guru but I have heard ENOUGH OF HANK WILLIAMS JR'S music to know where he stands politically. He makes no secret to me. I almost don't see the issue with this. Almost I said. I mean he is ENTITLED TO FEEL HOW HE FEELS. I don't agree with it but like I said, outside of MNF theme haveaboutthismuchuseforHANKWILLIAMSMUSIC. No skin off of my back if he doesn't like The President. (shrugs) @ comparing him to Hitler. It was a dumb comparison but yeah...I don't really give a shit. I have compared Hank Williams Jr. to MANY STEREOTYPICAL THINGS. He just lived up to one of them with that statement....

Skip Bayless apologizes to Chris Broussard...for these comments today... video

While it was 'heartfelt', I guess the question begs to be asked..... "Are we gonna buy that?" - Skip Bayless in this very interview.

The fact that he apologized should be looked upon as highly favorable. Thing is though, when others that Skip doesn't like 'apologize', he doesn't believe them or give them the benefit of the doubt. So I'm not quite sure others will give it to him either. I am even more sure THAT SKIP DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK IF WE BELIEVE IT OR NOT. By we, I am including Chris Broussard by the way. (I make no claim to knowing their off camera relationship so I  could be dead wrong. I can admit that. Unlike the person in question..) So I don't feel bad calling him on the 'authenticity' of his apologies.

Clearly, he just did it so I don't have video of his 'apology' yet but I saw it. I will put it up here later...

Some of you have asked me about the hashtag/show #TheMorningJones ft. @bomani_jones

It is VERY hard for me to explain him 'cause he is just him. So I will let this clip do it. Now, I have to preface this by saying he MIGHT RUB YOU THE WRONG WAY 'cause he is very opinionated. (Sound familiar?) and doesn't always say the 'popular thing'. He is also very EDUCATED AND WELL VERSED ON HIS SHIT so I would suggest you give him more than one listen. @ his show. I had to do that. I won't lie. I am MORE THAN ENOUGH man to admit that.  Now, I have put him in my morning routine. Either on the computer or the Blackberry, I am NOT MISSING the live show if I can help it. His co-hosts are equally as funny. I won't spoil that for you though. @ who they are and how they get down.

You probably have seen him on Around The Horn (With that cotdamm belt...lol) or some other ESPN shows so you may already know him and not realize he has a show of his own. The Score is where you can listen to him at. I wouldn't suggest him if I didn't think his show was good. It is good enough for me to still listen even WHEN I DISAGREE WITH HIM. I'll let that sink in for a second....

Damm...I guess I could describe him. I lied. My bad.... and if you listen or follow on Twitter, you might just hear him engage with some of the people you follow. Or tear apart your favorite star...Or say the shit that you want to say but it feels like no one else with any cotdamm sense can seem to grasp....

Consider this my official endorsement of the show (for what it is worth...).....as shocking as it may come to some..Thank ya'll for introducing me to his show ya'll. You know who you are. Ya'll got me. I am a fan now.

Enjoy the video on the 'Football Lockout'...from one Bomani Jones
