(SmartPhones/Android) Time to let the moaning begin. @Vineapp is available on @Android now

I knew I heard a rumbling of complaints...I should have known this is why...lol

Seems the Android version has a zoom feature but the front camera feature, sharing via Twitter and Facebook aren't available yet. Eh...

No I haven't made a Vine video yet... I'll let you know when I do though. Seen 'em all over though.

Siri vs. Google Search: Test Shows iPhone Assistant Isn't A Google Competitor Just Yet

Very interesting.Sure that Siri will be improved though. I use the voice command on my 'Droid all the time. Very nice feature.

Siri
Gene Munster, an analyst, tested Siri's ability to answer questions against Google's search function.
Siri might be going to summer school.
Piper Jaffray analyst and noted Apple fanatic Gene Munster decided to pit Siri against Google's web search in a supreme battle of the popular search interfaces. Munster asked Siri and Google 800 identical questions -- inputting the queries via text in Google and by voice in Siri -- and then recorded how many of the questions Siri and Google could answer correctly.
Munster also tested Siri's hearing and the iPhone 4S's noise-canceling capabilities, asking it 800 questions indoors, in a quiet room, and 800 questions outdoors, at a busy intersection, through the microphone of a set of Skullcandy headphones.
The key takeaway from Munster's experiment? Siri is still very, very much in beta.
Indoors, Siri was able to comprehend the words he spoke 89 percent of the time; at the busy intersection, that percentage fell to 83 (though perhaps this is more an indictment of the Skullcandy headphones). Of the 800 questions asked, Siri returned a correct answer just 62 percent of the time. Google, meanwhile, returned a correct answer 86 percent of the time (and, obviously, understood 100 percent of the queries, as the words were typed into a search box).
Long-time Apple watcher Philip Elmer-DeWitt has a bunch of the 800 questions that Siri was unable to answer correctly:

(Video) Google announces Jellybean 'officially' X my Galaxy Nexus purchase...

My Current Homescreen

Courtesy of the good folks at CNET... (Thank you..)

I was going to write about my new phone purchase but then I got this bit of news so I decided to combine the two in a way that I only I could...

First Jellybean..

The new platform features improved performance with better touch responsiveness, higher frame rates for animations, improved notifications, a completely redesigned search function among other things.  Looks like 'the Android' version of Siri (Which was here first...but poorly pushed IMHO) will get even more improvements. More interaction. Better directions.

Looks like the Voice command will be available offline as well. Which is huge.

The camera app, which is probably my only 'real complaint' about my phone is set to be improved as well. It works a little differently than the one I had on my Thumderbolt and it looks like it will model itself more after that with instant access to the picture you have just taken and the like. Right now, there is a little 'box' on the side that you have to click to even SEE YOUR PICTURE. Not horrible but it could be better. Looks like this update will address that.

Looks like my device (Galaxy Nexus), the Nexus S and the  Motorola XOOM will get it around mid-July..Hopefully.

The Galaxy Nexus:

My Current Homescreen

Well I got it on Saturday night so I have only had it about four days (at press time). The verdict so far?

Here is what I feel like I did. I basically traded a better camera (8 megapixels on the Thunderbolt's back camera), a data card and the ability to play music 'offline' without using Google Cloud for the ability to have 'timely software updates, no data card, COMPLETE BACK UP CAPABILITIES (As I could NEVER get my 'Bolt to totally sync up with Google via my pictures and the like) and a lighter feeling phone. That's probably the best way I could describe it.

Things I will miss:

I just said it. The camera. Good thing I actually know HOW TO TAKE PICTURES though. 5 MEGAPIXELS will do. I do know that the 8 mega compensated for some things but that just means I will have to use what I know now more than ever. Which is fine. I took some test shots in the store and have fooled around with it enough. The 5 mega is more than sufficient. The front camera thing is a 'wash' to me 'cause it is a FRONT FACING CAMERA. There aren't that many phones that have a front facing camera that are 'all love' anyway. So I'm not pressed about it. Again..get in good lighting and use the right angles. @ how I'm gonna approach that.

The thing I will miss the most is not having to use Google Music UNLESS I WANTED TO. Don't get me wrong, I clearly liked Google Music. I had it on the Thunderbolt. It was when I was working out that I had issues with the 'cloud' thing. It would go in and out. Sometimes it would freeze. No such issues if you are pulling music from the phone's SD card. Or at least there are minimal issues. So I will miss that. It also hindered the 'transfer' process but LUCKILY THAT IS JUST A ONE TIME DEAL so I can get over that....Speaking of the transfer process..lets get into what I love about the phone...

What I love about the Nexus:

Timely updates. As you can see, I just wrote about JellyBean. I was stuck on Gingerbread on my Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt probably won't get ICE CREAM SANDWICH UNTIL SEPTEMBER. Maybe. By that time, my Nexus will have Jellybean HOPEFULLY. Get where I am going with this? So yes, the 'updates' are a big factor to me. I have toiled long enough with a 'just launched' phone. I've done that my past two phones. That is why I didn't wait for the new Galaxy S 3. Pretty sure it is going to be an awesome phone. Also pretty sure that there will be issues. As there are with all phones. This phone that I have currently is enough for me. I no longer have the 'got to have the LATEST PHONE' itch. Give me one that works well and will be updated timely and I am good.

I love the way it actually SYNCS UP WITH GOOGLE. I can access ALL OF MY STUFF FINALLY. Not get an app for this. Or use this app for that. It is ALL THERE. My photos. My numbers. My blog. Everything syncs up perfectly. I don't have to 'hop around' to get to things either. Sharing is SO MUCH EASIER ON THIS PHONE. The screen is PRETTY just like it was on the 'Bolt and my Otterbox actually has a screen protector which my other one did not (Although to compensate, they sunk it in a bit so the screen was never in any real danger. I know...I dropped it a couple of times. Held up well..) These things shouldn't come to me as any surprise because it is a 'Google' phone though. I'm just not used to things syncing up so well so it is kind of nice.

The ability to screen shot.

I love this. No rooting. No 'special app'. Just side button/volume down...BOOM. Like it should be. There are so many 'pictures' that I have wanted to take that involved my screen that I no longer have to wait for. Big deal for me personally as I social network, blog, etc. I can create my own images. I like that freedom and  you will probably see the proof in that when I post those pictures here on the blog.

The interface..

I like it. It is smooth and basic. To the point. Fairly easy to navigate. Doesn't hang too much.

The overall verdict:

For now I am very satisfied with the purchase. It was one I was looking to make for awhile. I thought of getting a Razr but I'm not a fan of Motorola (Nextels for YEARS) and I didn't want to get another HTC phone (although I didn't hate it..). With the impending release of JellyBean, it looks like I made an even better choice than I first thought. Very happy with what I have so far. Haven't tried video calling or anything on the phone though. So there are a few more things that I need to do before I can call the purchase a COMPLETE SUCCESS. I am doing something that I had NOT DONE WITH MY OTHER PHONE RIGHT NOW THOUGH. I'm writing this blog post from it. It was VERY DIFFICULT TO DO THE EDITING, THE POSTING OF THE PICTURES AND THE VIDEO CODING ON THE THUNDERBOLT. It is not that hard to do it on here. Copying and pasting is much easier and it just moves better.

Verizon to end unlimited data plans for users who move to LTE phones, will push shared data plans instead | 9to5Mac | Apple Intelligence

Verizon to end unlimited data plans for users who move to LTE phones, will push shared data plans instead | 9to5Mac | Apple Intelligence

Fierce Wireless reports on comments from Verizon Wireless CFO Fran Shammo regarding the carrier’s future LTE plans. A topic most notable for users planning on moving to the much-rumored LTE iPhone this fall is that Verizon plans to drop grandfathered-in unlimited data plans for users who move to 4G LTE handsets. This will affect iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S owners on Verizon Wireless with unlimited data plans who move to the rumored LTE iPhone. Instead of unlimited data plans, CFO Shammo says that Verizon will push their upcoming shared-data plan system:
When asked how Verizon will drive customers to this new data share plan, Shammo said that LTE will be the anchor for the new plan and that as customers upgrade from 3G to LTE, they will have to be on a data share plan, allowing the company to sunset its unlimited 3G data plan. “A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited,” Shammo said. “When they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share. That is beneficial to us.”
Verizon Wireless says that shared data plans will begin rolling in mid-summer, but the company is yet to release any details regarding pricing or shared data plan usage packages. The company says that shared data plans will not only benefit the company in the long-term, but will also benefit families with multiple devices on their account. The current Verizon unlimited data plan costs individual users $30 per month on top of their normal calling bill charges.

This part is probably the 'answer' that most of you suspect... @ why this is happening..

"LTE is our anchor point for data share. So, as you come through an upgrade cycle and you upgrade in the future, you will have to go on to the data share plan. And moving away from, if you will, the unlimited world and moving everyone into a tiered structure data share plan."

However, Shammo said that with the launch of this new data share plan, the industry will have to change a key metric--average revenue per user. Shammo said that Verizon will move to a "revenue per account" metric that will more accurately measure the company's business.
When asked how Verizon will drive customers to this new data share plan, Shammo said that LTE will be the anchor for the new plan and that as customers upgrade from 3G to LTE, they will have to be on a data share plan, allowing the company to sunset its unlimited 3G data plan. "A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited," Shammo said. "When they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share. That is beneficial to us."
In an unrelated note, Shammo also said that the company will launch Voice over LTE technology at year end, but will not push the technology until mid-2013 when it has a bigger LTE footprint. In fact, Shammo noted that by the end of 2013 Verizon's LTE footprint will be equal to or even bigger than its existing 3G footprint.

TRANSLATION:

"Buy the old cheap most Pre LTE ready device available; NOW.  TO KEEP YOUR UNLIMITED.

Another possible option using this scenario would be... (Which I doubt will work 'cause they are gonna shut that down REAL QUICK...) When the new LTE iPhone device comes out, you get to keep your unlimited data for the new iPhone"
Of course, this is only a solution if the unlimited LTE plans will be honored if switching to new iphone. Which I think they are gonna block...

That's how I read this... Am I wrong? Someone help me out..

Interesting... $200 millie termination fee....Facebook's Instagram deal faces FTC scrutiny - latimes.com

Facebook's $1-billion purchase of photo-sharing site Instagram is under review by the Federal Trade Commission, according to the Financial Times.
The routine competition investigation could take six months to a year, the FT reports, which could delay the deal's anticipated second-quarter closing. Facebook had indicated in filings for its initial stock offering that it expected to close the deal by end of this quarter.

Deals for more than $66 million typically undergo greater regulatory scrutiny, under current antitrust law. Initially, the FTC and Department of Justice do a preliminary review to determine whether any antitrust concerns come up warranting closer examination.
The majority of deals reviewed by the FTC and Justice Department are allowed to proceed after preliminary review. However, companies have to provide more information if there's a second request.
Sources tell the Financial Times that the FTC has already started to gather data from some of the social network's rivals.
Although the deal may ultimately win approval, experts say that regulators will carefully scrutinize it because of the high price and profile of the companies.
Facebook warned investors on its pre-IPO tour that it faces a significant challenge making money from mobile devices, as advertising has lagged behind the shift to mobile devices. A significant impetus behind the play for Instagram was to bolster its mobile strategy.

If the deal is blocked, Facebook has said it would pay Instagram a termination fee of $200 million.

(Technology) More updates for Android X @Instagram for Android Update Brings New Feature

A shot I altered using the effect...

That is a picture of the screen where you will notice the addition.. It is something that Android users were missing before. I compensated for it by using different apps to make the effect but it is nice to have 'right there'. I will say that.

In case you haven't seen my tutorial on Android for Instagram with a few must have apps, go here. I think it will help you out some. I do all the things you see those with iPhones do and then some with my flicks. It isn't that hard. Trust me.

http://thewarehous.blogspot.com/2012/04/appsandroidiphonesmartphone-so-you-got.html

Again..my pics weren't blurry but I've 'heard' iPhone users 'crow' about their photos looking a 'certain kinda way'..This simple feature is a BIG PART WHY. @ the enhancements..For those who haven't seen tutorials like mine, this is why their pics looked the way they do and yours don't. This feature and the fact that they have had the app for a minute and know the 'other apps to use' to make their pictures stand out. Not because of their 'camera'. Don't be fooled outchea...lol

Anyhow, the feature is pretty dope.

Here's a complete review of the app for those of you who are still feeling your way around....

The picture ABOVE was the response I got....From the artist. So now you know. The kicker? I heard this song below and HAD NO CLUE HER. You GOTTA LOVE TWITTER.....(Awaits new music from Sioux Lane now...)

Who? @ some of you youngins asking me..THE GAL SANGING..'SHAWTY SWING MY WAY....SHAWTY SWING MY WAY...."

(Words) #Instragram #Android #iPhone X Lies X Elitism X Hate and OUR need to fall in line with it...

You can ENLARGE THE PICTURE.. Or hit the link below to get to it..

http://instagr.am/p/JGsMnapTER/ elitism

Let me help you if you don't understand what I mean by 'our' first. So that there is no speculation. I'm talking about people of color. Yeah, that need DOES affect others but they aren't the ones coming from a point of view being 'stepped on', down trodden and just out and out disrespected. Why the hell does that matter? Glad you asked Sherlock! It is important because you would THINK that coming from such a place, we wouldn't fall into the habit of doing it to EACH OTHER under most circumstances. Yet, time and time again, we slip RIGHT INTO THOSE SAME HABITS. As I like to say....'Whitey taught you well...'

I mean we have cats out here claiming 'Team this' and 'Team that' over MATERIAL THINGS. It isn't just 'jokes' either. I don't want to hear that. Folks are out here basing their PERSONALITIES and their 'swag' on these things so don't hand me that 'I'm just joking nigga' shit. Nope. Ya'll are out here getting personal with it. Talking about if 'You don't have this'..you ain't shit. Meanwhile, you don't have LIFE'S BASICS down.

The kicker? SOME* OF YOU ARE BEING ELITIST ABOUT SHIT THAT YOU HAVE NO REAL KNOWLEDGE OF! Going by what your geeky 'white boy' who is SCARED TO DEATH OF YOUR ASS tells you and taking it as the gospel. Or my favorite, just being sheep and going with what you see said White People do. (But then want to get mad when they buy hip hop and say that those SAME RECORDS SALES FROM THE WHITE PEOPLE YOU ARE TRYING TO EMULATE all of the sudden don't matter! Interesting..) I probably know more about YOUR PHONE THAN YOU DO. Same with your car. Same with that 'fancy eatery' that you have claimed as 'your spot' that you don't want 'anybody else to eat at...'**

Back to the phone thing though, 'cause it is the latest 'issue'. The picture up top is from MY INSTAGRAM. (Follow or don't follow..IDGAF.. Do you..). I have a ANDROID THUNDERBOLT and no I don't hate Apple. The joints we used to have in school as a child? I had EVERYONE AS MY DAD FIXED COMPUTERS ON THE SIDE. (I'm also proficient in old archaic languages like Colbalt and Pascal..lmao) Point being is, I don't have an 'issue' with Apple. My issue is with you elitist ass cats with your misinformation and the fact you actually had the AUDACITY TO GET MAD ABOUT FOLKS GETTING INSTAGRAM. Shit is laughable B. Here's some of the bullshit I have heard some of you spew out for the last week. (I wish I would have actually favorited the tweets. I just wasn't that worried about 'em at the time but I remember 'em..)

You can see who said this here....https://twitter.com/#!/carolinaware/status/187648184561057793

Iphones have a better camera...

These 'Droid users and their shitty cameras pictures are messing up Instagram....

These 'Droid users are UPLOADING PICTURES LEFT AND RIGHT. Got my stream going HAM. Don't upload so many pictures.

Dear Droid users, don't upload pictures of yourself or I will unfollow you. @ too many self pictures...

#iPhone only @ those pictures that are edited JUST LIKE THE ONE I PUT TOP...

Instagram has become rachet since Android users joined...

(Chuckles) I have more but I SPOKE directly to those folks on the TL and saw they were just joking/we kinda talked that out. These though? Oh these niggas are SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. Every other tweet was about it. I can say I didn't call it though:

 http://thewarehous.blogspot.com/2012/03/instagram-for-android-shown-off-at-sxsw.html

As far the camera claim and the pictures:

I think we all knew that the launch wasn't going to be 'smooth'. The last two updates have shown it wasn't 'user error' (even I had said that jokingly...Knowing it wasn't.. I personally disproved that...) It was a system error within the app. Android users weren't even allowed to upload some pictures because they were 'too small'. They fixed that though and with that also fixed 95% of the blurry pictures. Even though I personally went around that issue by using PicsArt to upload pics or KD Collage as I explained in THIS POST..

 http://thewarehous.blogspot.com/2012/04/appsandroidiphonesmartphone-so-you-got.html

If you go to MY INSTAGRAM, the only blurry pictures are the ones I MADE BLURRY MYSELF as I didn't want you nosy motherfuckers to see certain shit. That's it. lol

Better camera? Stop that shit.. First of all, everyone isn't posting pictures they took with their cameras on their phones. Second of all....

http://www.pcworld.com/article/241955-2/smartphone_camera_battle_iphone_4s_vs_the_android_elite.html

Better screen? Yes. Better pictures? Nope. I mean we can get down to the brass tax of things if we are going spec for spec. Non removable batteries. No ability to add storage. No native Flash playing.. I won't bring up the other issues that Apple JUST NOW GOT TOGETHER just like Android has done. In other words, both phones have 'issues'/faults if you will. It is a matter of preference. You have to know the FACTS though. Stop going on 'speculation' and what your favorite 'rapper' is telling you is the better phone.. lol For real.

As far as the 'amount' of pictures:

Again, ya'll kill me. First you won't follow folks who 'don't have a lot of pictures' because you want to see what they are 'going to post' then it is 'You post too much.'.. I have one thing to say to that...

"The touch..the feel....the fabric of the hate...." - Set to the tune of the following video...

 <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VIrfR2UEycg?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always">src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VIrfR2UEycg?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360">

  <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cayXJcf4LjY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>iframe>

Make up your minds outchea folks. I know you had the app for two years now but you are quite hoemotional about this here shit. It is a app. Deal with it.

Outchea with the oppressive tactics that have been used against you.. Get up off that horse.

I already dispelled that 'iPhone' only quality bullshit. I can do it again though...@ the tricked out pictures.. Here you go...

UPDATE: I left out one....

Ratchedness...

THERE IS A WHOLE OTHER SIDE OF INSTAGRAM SOME OF YOU DON'T FOLLOW. I knew about it BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO LOG ON TO IT FROM MY DROID. All you have to do is type in Ware's Faves..I'd say 30% of the RECENT PICTURES came from gals who have Instagram (Yaris, Maliah, Sultry Simone, etc). THEY ALL POST THEIR PICS ON INSTAGRAM. Always have. They are iPhone users... All of them. Most video 'models', vixens, urban models or whatever you want to call them do. We didn't make this shit rachet. It already was.

*Can you read? I said some......Not all....some. Every person of color who owns an iPhone isn't like that. The VAST MAJORITY OF YOU ARE THOUGH...

** Like they can stay in business waiting on YOU to frequent their establishment...lmao As if. Trust me, they like your business but they weren't AIMING FOR YOU. You are icing on the cake baby! Believe that. When your fleeting tastes move on to the 'next big thing', they will be just fine.

(Apps/Android/iPhone/Smartphone) So you got Instagram for Android & your pictures are 'too small' huh? I have some good news..#instagram #android

I had that same issue. Couldn't find a solution. Looked EVERYWHERE. No dice. Here's how I got around it... PicsArt was the starting point as far as getting the collage thing down BUT the APP THAT HELPED ME CRACK THE 'TOO SMALL' CODE was KD Collage (Click the link..takes you right to the app store..Or click the QR codes below) ... I stumbled upon it awhile ago but never had a use for it. Until now. All this time the answer was sitting in my apps. Waiting to be used..smh (Which is a shame actually 'cause I have found OTHER USES FOR IT BESIDES INSTAGRAM NOW..-_-) You have to use the PRO VERSION OF IT THOUGH as it is this version that allow you to post LARGER PICTURES. The free version only does it in 'mobile phone' size which is the problem.*

Can I post DIRECTLY to Instagram FROM THIS APP? - You

Paid version (the one you need)

The free version if you want to 'kick the tires' and get familiar with it to see what it is all about..

Yep! You can post to a bevy of places actually. Facebook too. This app just isn't an Instagram add on. I post to Mobli, Facebook and Twitter from this app. I have even taken to posting SINGLE PICTURES from this app 'cause I can tweak it BEFORE I get to Instagram. (I suspect that is what some iPhones users are doing with their pictures to make them 'stand out'.) I now see why folks love the app so much once you know how to get add ons to it. I also see why 'folks who DO TAKE PICTURES' ARE ON THAT 'You aren't a photographer' ish too...lol I see both sides of it now. Both might be right. (Unless you are messing with pictures that you already took..)

Photo Grid works pretty good for those pictures that DO FIT that you have taken with your camera. I don't want to leave that app out. It is a beautiful app as well. I didn't list it first because it doesn't allow (or at least I have figured out how) to resize my pictures to be able to upload them to Instagram. It does do this though:

Features:
* High mode: put your photos in a list
* Wide mode: put your photos in a row
* Multi mode: No restriction on the number of photo
* Single mode: you can edit a single photo
* Load images from the gallery.
* Five group to choose.
* Two kinds of model choose photo.(thumbnail, watermark.)
* Tap or shake to rearrange photos.
* Edit grid, Swap, Rotate, Move, Zoom, Sketch.
* A lot of image templates.
* Border type changeable.
* Share your collage using: Twitter, Facebook, Gmail...
* Language support: English, Korean, Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese.
And,best of all...it's FREE!

I am probably not going to make a WHOLE OTHER POST if I find more stuff. I will just be adding it on here. (Unless I find out a TON OF STUFF...) So check back here.

I figured the techies would get started on a list.. Here's one.. Go to it and try it out. (I muddled my way through SEVERAL LISTS yesterday when NO ONE had an answer to my issue and bam...I found a solution... with help from my peoples in B-More Bew Radley @ her start iphone app list which gave me an idea of what I should be looking for in an app to do what I wanted to do..)

http://smashinghub.com/10-best-android-apps-for-photo-sharing.htm

I saw this the other day... In case you don't want to go through what I've done here. I can't guarantee picture quality but hey...The ONLY issue I see right now with this tutorial is if you aren't on Ice Cream Sandwich, you can't screen shot without a root. If you are rooted, you don't need to do this 'cause you can run numerous apps that screenshot and probably crop/resize as well. *shrugs*

*I am going to go out on a limb and say that pictures are compressed when they are transferred to your phone which is why they are TOO SMALL. If I am wrong, so be it. All I know is that the pictures are the RIGHT SIZE WHEN I USE THIS app. That I do know. I say this because almost ALL OF MY PICTURES I HAVE TAKEN WITH THE CANON are HUGE. Except in their state on my phone... They are too small to post on Instagram as they are on my phone. The only reason I can come up to is that they were compressed to fit on the SD card to begin with. The only other pictures I've had issues with are those taken with my old BB Storm. Lower quality cam so I understand those being 'unacceptable'. I don't have ANY ISSUES with pictures I have taken with the Thunderbolt that I try to put up directly to Instagram though. None.

(Smartphone/Apps) So..#Instragram has hit the Android Market you say??

Cats are out here salty too! I told you earlier last month it was coming though.. As you can see up top, I do have it..

In case you are having issues with finding it in the Play store/it says your phone is incompatible with the app and you KNOW IT IS (2.2 or higher..) , use the Play weblink..

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instagram.android

Still having trouble? The good folks at Android Phone Fans have a video..(Damm where was this at when I was fumbling through this earlier? lol)

UPDATE: It was suggested by a good friend of mine that the following programs be used with Instagram. I am looking for their equivalents now..>>> ...Pic Stitch, Pic Frame and Nostalgio. Found a couple but none to solve the dreaded 'picture is too small' error most are getting. I'm working on it though. @ an answer. I have a few ideas...

I found an answer to the 'too small' picture thing.... AND A FEW ALTERNATIVES TO PITCH STITCH TO BOOT..

Watch out for those angry iPhone users who are not happy about having their only real 'chip' over other phone users.

I will also say that for some of you who use some of the other picture apps of the World, you might not be all that 'impressed' by the features. It is a nice app but I suspect it is more about the social networking/secret society aspect that existed prior to today. You just 'couldn't get in' unless you had an iPhone. Even if it was from Walmart for $50. That changed today. Think of how BBM users used to talk about that feature and how everyone who didn't have it 'felt they were missing out'. @ exclusivity of it all. I tell you, these folks who develop these apps SURE KNOW HOW TO PLAY ON THAT. Even with the release of it on Android today. *

My username on there? There is a hint in the blog's title (it includes my username it would have been my username but.....) I warn you, I will probably be boring unless I am out at a concert or out and about. I would hope anyway.. @ my usage.

*Something else I find interesting in that most iPhone users are upset like it is a 'class issue'. Peep the price I gave for the one available at Walmart. Are they sure they want to make it about that? The other thing I found interesting is I see mostly folks of certain skin tones RIDING HARD for said class issue. Same folks who are upset when something they 'don't have' is used against them and they are ridiculed, excluded, shunned, discriminated against, etc, etc, etc... Just an observation. @ what behavior folks seem to learn from their oppressors. Yeah..you knew SOMEWHERE I WAS GOING TO go in WITH IT.

BlackBerry maker leaving consumer market, focusing on business | MyFOX8.com – Greensboro, High-Point, Winston-Salem News & weather from WGHP Television FOX8

TORONTO — Struggling BlackBerry maker Research in Motion Ltd. said Thursday that it plans to return its focus to its corporate customers after failing to compete with flashier,
consumer-oriented phones such as Apple’s iPhone and models that run Google’s Android software.
The Canadian company said it was undergoing a comprehensive strategic review. Heins said he was open to selling the company, but “it is not the main direction we are pursuing right now.”
The company has long dominated the corporate smartphone market. Its BlackBerrys are known for their security and reliability as email devices.
RIM has sought to expand its appeal to consumers, but it has had trouble because the phones aren’t perceived to be as sexy as its chief competitors.
Apple sold 37 million iPhones in the last three months of 2011 — more than what RIM shipped in the past three quarters combined. RIM shipped 11.1 million BlackBerrys in the latest quarter, which ended March 3.
RIM also bombed in its efforts to produce a tablet computer to compete with Apple’s iPad. Among other things, the PlayBook received negative reviews because it launched without an email program and the popular messaging service BlackBerry Messenger. In December, the tablets that originally cost $500 were selling for $200, below the cost of making them.
RIM has been counting on improvements with its forthcoming BlackBerry 10 system, but that has faced multiple delays. BlackBerrys also lag iPhones or Android phones when it comes to running third-party applications. Touch-screen models that lack physical keyboards have largely flopped.
For that reason, BlackBerrys are even losing ground in the business world, as employees demand iPhones or Android devices over BlackBerrys.
RIM said it will focus its consumer efforts on targeted offerings that tap the company’s strengths. That includes devices that employees will want to buy on their own and bring to the corporate environment. The company was exploring partnerships and other opportunities for consumer products that aren’t deemed central. Those products could include software and features that are then incorporated into RIM’s own offerings.

Not entirely true btw...@ leaving. More like refocusing on their original bread and butter.  @ business world.

Instagram for Android shown off at SXSW, 'better than our iPhone app' say founders

instagram
Today at SXSW, Instagram's Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger told Alexia Tsotsis that an Android version of the app is coming "really soon." We've heard this for several months now, but it seems that the app is finally getting close to launch. On stage, Systrom pulled out a Galaxy Nexus running a prototype of the app, and flashed it at the crowd. He said, "it's one of the most amazing Android apps you'll ever see," and continued, "in some ways, it's better than our iPhone app." The app is currently in private beta, and the team hopes "to have it out to people really soon." During the session's Q&A, he added that the Android app is incredibly fast, works great on a range of larger screens, and has sharing functionality with Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks.
Additionally, Systrom confirmed that Instagram has grown to over 27 million registered users, nearly double the 15 million announced back in December 2011. He explained much of the enormous growth came from the launch of the iPhone 4S, followed by Apple highlighting the app as App of the Year.

Pass it on to the cats who ask 'Why do folks still use BloggDevil's Advocate: 5 Reasons Why You Should Use Blogger Instead Of WordPress | BloggingPro

Devil's Advocate: 5 Reasons Why You Should Use Blogger Instead Of WordPress | BloggingPro

Since all Five reasons are why I still haven't used WordPress (I have a Wordpress account too btw so that's not it...) I thought I would put this up. I get this question FREQUENTLY myself. It is INDEED where I started at but I've looked into the other options. So far, nothing has moved to the point that I want to move and much like everything other 'fad' in Life, I don't 'move' just 'cause everyone else does. In addition, my main goal is for you to get what I post in some format. As long as you get to read my words when I do write them, I am GOOD. I also don't think my theme looks too bad. (Or any of the past themes I choice..@ the Facebook one before Facebook REALLY TOOK OFF, THE ORIGINAL BLACKBERRY THEME I HAD.... etc, etc..) Anyway...take a look at the reason.

Despite the power and popularity of WordPress amongst the blogging elite (at least upon the Techmeme Leaderboard), Blogger still remains the dominant blogging platform in the world, with the glorious WP coming in at a distant second.
Some in the WordPress faith may wonder why anyone would consider using Blogger, especially since WordPress boasts thousands (or is it tens of thousands?) of plugins, themes and developers–not to mention awesome smartphone apps upon the iPhone, Blackberry and Google’s very own Android OS.
However upon closer examination, BlogSpot fans may not be as “delusional” as some geeks may think for choosing Google over Automattic, as there are at least 5 major advantages of using Blogger instead of WordPress–both WP.com and WP.org.

1) Problogging On Your Domain
No matter how you slice it or dice it, Blogger is just far cheaper when it comes to blogging underneath your custom domain.
Backed by the mighty Google, Blogger is free when it comes to hooking up your domain. WordPress charges you $10 per domain (and that is on top of what you pay for registering your domain elsewhere).
While this may seem like a small price to pay, the bill can add up quickly if you own 5 or 6 domains.

2) Image Hosting
When it comes to default image hosting, WordPress beats Blogger 3 times over (as the former offers 3 gigabytes of default space vs Google’s 1 gigabyte).
However when it comes to upgrading to the next level on both accounts, Blogger destroy’s WordPress by offering users 20 GB of space for $5/year while WP.com offers users 5GB of space for about $20/year (note: the options become worse for us WP fans the higher up we go).

3) Video Hosting
If image hosting wasn’t bad enough, the video options alone will make one weep when you consider that WordPress charges users $60/year to use VideoPress–a fee that does not include any extra space.
BlogSpot fans on the other hand are offered video uploading for free (thanks to Google Video), with no limits on space.
4) Themes: Free for thee, but not for me?!
Despite Blogger’s popularity, WordPress (to my knowledge) still has more custom themes than its Google rival. However a new trend that I am noticing is that many premium WordPress themes are available for FREE (or very cheap) on Blogger.
One example (out of many) would be a premium WordPress theme called Church is available for $60 for WP fans. BlogSpot lovers however can get the same exact theme for free.
In fact there are many sites out there (like WordPress To Blogger) that convert premium WordPress themes to Blogger for free or very inexpensive prices (note: I am not sure how legal these businesses are, but thus far they seem to have faced little action against the original creators).
5) Security
This last point is probably debatable, but lets just face the facts: Google has one of the most secure platforms in the world.
Although WordPress.com and many hosting companies (such as Media Temple, Host Monster and GoDaddy) provide excellent security for their customers, the fact that Google can take on foreign hackers from semi-hostile nations speaks volumes about how tough their defenses are.
So is Blogger better than WordPress?
Answer: That depends on who you ask. ;-)
