@Jeanne_Jolly's debut full-length ''Angels'' due out 10/2 on +FE Music (@FEOfficial)

 Per their website:

"We are excited to announce that "Angels", the debut full-length from Raleigh, NC-based singer/songwriter Jeanne Jolly, drops 10/2 on +FE Music. 

A member of our touring crew since 2011, Jeanne has been a welcome addition to the +FE Music family. Appearing on "Dear Friends" ("Laughing At Your Plans," "Steal Away"), Phonte's "Charity Starts At Home" LP ("Everything is Falling Down," "Who Loves You More"), and Zo's "...just visiting three" ("Same Ole Love"), Jeanne has been a natural fit for the +FE aesthetic and a wonderful extension of our musical partnership. 

Her 10 song, Chris Boerner produced LP features the single "Sweet Love" and contributions from Hot at Nights drummer Nick Baglio and pedal steel guitarist Allyn Love.

Good news from the folks at FE. Definitely can't wait to hear Jeanne's brand of dope music come out. The best thing about this to me is that I KNOW PHONTE AND NIC are gonna let Jeanne do 'her'. No forced collabos. No trying to 'slide' into some 'lane'. Just the music that she wants to do and what will feel right.

I need to ask him about hearing "Flight Of the Blackbyrd" from SunStorm!! A friend of mine and GFM drummer, Tate McBroom told me that he played the record for him a few months prior... Being an original Blackbyrd, I was anxious to hear his opinion first-hand...


Me: I've been meaning to ask you about this for a minute.... Have you heard the "Flight Of the Blackbyrd" joint?


Allan Barnes: What? Your joint?


Me: Yeah... The one that just came out last year.


AB: Oh yeeeeeeeah!! That's the SHIT man!!


Me: *Trying my best not to attempt a back flip that I know I can't execute*


It was probably the shortest and most direct approval I had ever received, but it didn't lessen how humbled I was, especially being as though the only other song I have ever received praise for from the original artist was my cover of "Star Of the Story" by Heatwave... Of course as soon as I got off the phone with AB... I passed the positive news along to Phonte.

Phonte Coleman being Phonte....

@phontigallo: I imagine bein a club DJ in 2010 is like bein a world class chef that's forced to make fried bologna sandwiches every night.

What is particularly funny about that is the fact that some rapper or musician is going to read that and not realize (or have the nerve to ignore the fact) that it is their music he is talking about. That is probably the funniest thing to me about the statement. Of course if at some point they DO REALIZE IT, the comment will be promptly deemed as 'hate'. Thus completing the 'funny' cycle.
