Still not mad at what James Harrison said but here is his apology...

Original link:
I did make comments about my teammates when I was talking about the emotional Super Bowl loss, but the handful of words that were used and heavily publicized yesterday were pulled out of a long conversation and the context was lost. Obviously, I would never say that it was all Ben’s or Rashard’s fault that we lost the Super Bowl. That would be ridiculous. Both Ben and Rashard are great players and great teammates. Clearly the entire team bears responsibility for the loss, me included. It was a team effort and a team loss. My teammates know me well, and hopefully understand the things I said were not meant to accuse them of the loss. We all have discussed several things that went wrong in the Super Bowl since that day. What I do apologize for and take full responsibility for is for speaking in such a candid manner to someone outside the team.

I also need to make clear that the comment about Roger Goodell was not intended to be derogatory against gay people in any way. It was careless use of a slang word and I apologize to all who were offended by the remark. I am not a homophobic bigot, and I would never advocate intolerance of gay people.

As far as the photo that was shown on air yesterday, collecting guns is a hobby of mine, and I advocate the responsible use of firearms. I believe in the right to bear arms. I like to go to the shooting range. I like to hunt. I like to fish. I could just as easily have posed with my fishing poles but it obviously wouldn’t be an interesting picture for the magazine. I am not promoting gun violence by posing for that photo. There are also other photos in the magazine story that were not shown on air yesterday – including me with my sons, with my mom and as a kid.

Unfortunately, the above items and other comments have detracted from the original purpose of the story – a position I have been advocating for some time now. If player safety is the NFL’s main concern, as they say it is, they are not going about it in an effective manner. There’s nothing about extending the season or issuing exorbitant fines on defensive players that makes any shift toward the prevention of injury to players.

I believe that the league may have been feeling increasing pressure about injuries and concussions last year, and that they panicked and put rules in place that weren’t fully thought out. I’m not advocating more flags and fines, I’m just saying that the current rules are not completely fair, and I don’t believe in the way that the league is handling their position as overseer of the NFL and the well-being of its players.

As far as the character and reputation hits I may suffer as a result of my comments in the article, I’ll take those hits and more if it brings increased attention to the re-examination and installation of rules and regulations that would create a real impact on player safety.

So we are clowning Matt Slauson for moving back in with his parents 'cause of the lockout huh?

Article (moreso the comments on the article)  in question.... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/07/lockout-concerns-lead-jets-player-to-move-back-in-with-his-parents/

Oh that is REAL CUTE. So the young man actually has the smarts to figure out that he isn't a millionaire, might not have the income he has now coming in and that he can PREVENT things from going sour and we JOKE HIM? Yeah.....

Ya'll don't want them to win....I think you like it better when you can point your finger and say 'There's the bad guy..' @ when the athletes get drunk, beat up girlfriends, go bankrupt, or just generally screw up.

This man should be LAUDED. He actually has some sense. Good job young man. Shit, I know REGULAR people who could take a cue from this young man....oh wait..they do and that is why he is getting clowned. 'Cause your perception of the athletes are that they are all OVERLY rich. My bad....Told you that they ALL AREN'T MILLIONAIRES and it isn't because they mismanage their money. They just aren't all making that kinda money. They are making NICE money but they still have to make good choices.

Whoa..whoa..the NFL needs what Roger GODdell? @ stadiums and his 'status quo' rhetoric..

Someone PLEASE tell me this man doesn't expect me to BELIEVE THIS SHIT HERE?

The status quo means failing to recognize the many costs of financing, building, maintaining and operating stadiums. We need new stadiums in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Oakland and San Diego; and the ability for more league investment in new technology to improve service to fans in stadiums and at home.

Yeah Roger? REALLY? Someone in Oakland get at me and tell me about the condition of your stadium please. Ditto the other places. WAIT LOS ANGELES? Is there even a TEAM IN LOS ANGELES? (I know the answer.) Whoa....

But you idiots wanna keep blaming THE PLAYERS. Yeah...So everyone is supposed to basically have a 'Jerry's World'? Is that it Roger?

Companies with far more revenue than the NFL have gone bankrupt because they mismanaged their costs and failed to address their problems before they became a crisis. The NFL has a track record over many decades of making good decisions that have led to unprecedented popularity. Negotiating a fair agreement will result in billions in pay and benefits to current players, improved benefits for retired players, and a sustainable business model for our teams.

Good one Roger! Bring the 'other' companies that MAKE more money than you do angle into it. That's it. Make it sound like you guys didn't enjoy YOUR BEST YEAR YET as far as making money. Sure.

The union has repeatedly said that it hasn’t asked for anything more and literally wants to continue playing under the existing agreement. That clearly indicates the deal has moved too far in favor of one side. Even the union’s president knows this — as he said on national radio on January 27: “I think what really happened is in 2006 we got such a great deal. I mean, the players got a good deal and the owners felt they got it handed to them.”

Oh so this is why you did those deals with the Networks in that way. Because of what the Union President said on JANUARY 27TH OF THIS YEAR. Allow me to point out though that YOU RECONSTRUCTING THOSE TV DEALS TWO YEARS AGO ROGER. So while your 'We got screwed and they know it' argument sounds REAL GOOD it doesn't excuse what happened in regards to that. You probably wouldn't have even bought that up if Doty hadn't ruled like he did. 'Cause you ALREADY had it planned out how you were gonna even that up.....@ this planned locked out. Real cute though.

Hit the link up top if you want to read Roger's letter....
